The Mechanics of Demodex Mites and Humans

Are Demodex mites curable on humans? 

If you have them are you stuck with them forever? These are questions that probably run through your mind if you’ve ever experienced Demodex mites or if you are curious about them. 

The question that brings fear to most when it comes to Demodex mites, “are Demodex curable on humans?!”. The short answer would be yes but you might wonder how can they be curable. Right? 

First things first let address a few things shall we, what are these Demodex mites that we speak of? Well Demodex mites are microscopic parasites that live under hair follicles and in oil glands. They are linked to many issues such as Demodex mites’ rosacea and Demodex #acne.

Recent studies have found that most people have mites present on them, however, they tend to become a problem when a high population density is found. 

They are a natural part of the human microbiome – which is the ecological community of microorganisms that live on and within the body. There are two species that can be found on humans, those are Demodex Follicluorum and Demodex #Brevis. The difference between the two mites is that Demodex Follicluorum lives in hair follicles primarily in the face and meibomian glands in of the eyelids. Whereas Demodex Brevis live in the sebaceous glands of the skin. 

Even though Demodex Follicluorum are found on the skin of all humans, they appear in greater numbers in those that have rosacea. These Demodex mites are a true connection to rosacea, due to the fact that they are linked to a distinct Bactria called bacillus oleronius. In a study funded by Dr.Kevin Kavanagh and his colleagues found B. oleronius stimulated an inflammatory response in 79% of study patients, with subtype 2 (papulopustular) rosacea. The study showed that the effective treatment includes antibiotics that destroy the Bactria. 

But could this be the only effective treatment for rosacea? Perhaps not there are other ways to treat rosacea and it’s certainly isn’t only with antibiotics.

تیزر کوتاه معرفی دمودکس

انسان می تواند میزبان مناسبی برای بسیاری از جانداران ریز میکروسکوپی باشد و یک نمونه از این مهمان های ناخوانده در پوست انسان، انگلی است به نام دمودکس؛ تقریبا هیچ انسان بزرگسالی وجود ندارد که روی پوستش انگل های دمودکس درحال زندگی نباشد اما زمانی که تراکم جمعیت این انگلها زیاد می شود، بسیاری از مشکلات پوست و مو نیز شدت می یابد.

امکان دیدن این انگل ها به صورت عادی وجود ندارد اما ندیدن آنها دلیلی بر نبودنشان نیست. این مایت‌ های میکروسکوپی، جاندارانی عنکبوتی با هشت پای کوچک اما بسیار شبیه به کرم هستند که در پوست هر انسان بالغ می‌توان آنها را یافت. این حشرات کل عمر خود را روی پوست انسان سپری می‌کنند، آنجا متولد می‌شوند،‌ زاد و ولد می‌کنند و پس از حدود یک الی سه ماه می‌میرند.

دو گونه‌ از این جانداران میکروسکوپی روی پوست بویژه در ناحیه سر و صورت انسان سکونت دارند: دمودکس فولیکولاروم و دمودکس برویس. این جانداران در دسته بند‌پایان قرار دارند که نزدیک‌ترین اقوام آنها در میان حشرات عنکبوت‌ها و کنه‌ ها هستند. مایت‌ های دمودکس هشت پای کوتاه و پرزدار در نزدیکی سرهایشان دارند و بدن آنها نیمه شفاف است.

این جانداران در مناطق مختلفی از پوست انسان سکونت دارند. دمودکس فولیکولاروم غالبا در میان حفره‌های فولیکول موی سر و صورت و دمودکس برویس درون غدد چربی پوست زندگی می‌کنند. دلیل وفور این جانداران در پوست سر و صورت انسان، وجود حفره‌ها و غدد چربی بیشتر نسبت به دیگر بخش‌های بدن است.

دانشمندان بیش از یک قرن گذشته انگل دمودکس را شناخته اند اما تا چند سال قبل چندان توجهی به آن ننمودند و لذا این انگل به عموم مردم معرفی نشده بود. محققین دریافته‌ اند که انسان‌ها از گذشته‌ های دور، یعنی از حدود ۲۰ هزار سال پیش میزبان این جانداران بوده‌اند اگر چه امروزه به دلیل افزایش جمعیت جوامع شهری و اماکن عمومی و بویژه مراکزی که در انتقال انگلها موثرند، مانند آرایشگاه ها و باشگاه های ورزشی و استخرها و ... شیوع بیشتری پیدا کرده است. 

شدت فراگیر بودن این جانداران در سال ۲۰۱۴ توسط مجامع دانشگاهی نیز بیشتر آشکار شد. دانشمندان دانشگاه های امریکا بویژه دانشگاه کارولینای شمالی در سال ۲۰۱۴ با انجام پژوهشی دریافتند که  "دی ان ای" دمودکس را می‌توان روی پوست هر فرد بالغی یافت. اگرچه می توان بوسیله میکروسکوپ از چربی پوست هر فرد نمونه هایی را برای آزمایش گرفت اما جمعیت دقیق این موجودات در پوست انسان بصورت دقیق قابل محاسبه نیست، لذا متناسب با سن، وضعیت پوست و مو و شرایط سیستم ایمنی بدن و یا بیماری های مرتبط و همچنین با توجه به شدت مشکلات پوست و موی هر انسان می توان به میزان شدت تراکم جمعیت این انگل ها در پوست هر فرد پی برد.

دانشمندان براین باورند که مایت‌های دمودکس در تاریکی شب به سطح پوست می آیند (چون از نور فراری هستند) و پس از جفتگیری مجدد به زیر پوست می روند و پس از ۱۲ ساعت در حفره‌های محل سکونت خود تخم‌گذاری کرده و به این شکل به جمعیت آنها به سرعت افزوده می‌شود. این جانداران تمامی مواد زائدی که در طول زندگی‌شان در بدنشان تولید می‌شود درون بدن نگه می‌دارند تا زمانی که بمیرند و همین امر می تواند باعث تشدید عفونتهای پوستی و تداوم مشکلاتی مانند آکنه، روزاسه، جوش و خارش، چین و چروک و پیر شدن پوست، بلفاریت، ریزش مو، نازک و کم پشت شدن مو و سایر ناراحتی های پوستی شود. درضمن این جانداران می‌توانند در تشدید دیگر مشکلاتی پوست و مو نیز موثر باشند. به عنوان مثال، مطالعات علمی و تجربی دانشمندان نشان می‌دهند جمعیت دمودکس‌ها در صورت افراد مبتلا به روزاسه بسیار بیشتر از صورت افرادی است که مشکل روزاسه ندارند.  

درحال حاضر دارو ها و محصولات مختلفی در جهان برای درمان بیماری های پوستی فوق الذکر ارائه می شود، اما هیچکدام نمی توانند مشکل دمودکس را بطور اساسی، بنیادین، پایدار و بدون عوارض جانبی برطرف نمایند؛ بلکه در برخی موارد حتی شرایط را بدتر یا موقت مشکل را پنهان می کنند و حتی ژن دمودکس ها را نسبت به ترکیبات داروها مقاوم تر می کنند؛ و اگر بخواهند با داروی شیمیایی موجود در بازار با آن مبارزه کنند قبل از اینکه بتوانند این انگل را از بین ببرند به پوست و مو صدمه می رسانند لذا این، یکی از دلایلی است که مشکل دمودکس را نادیده گرفته اند زیرا که تا قبل از معرفی محصولات آنجکس، راه حل جامع و پایدار دیگری برای آن سراغ نداشته اند.

The main difference between the shampoos is that IS is used for light oil control and PS is used for heavier oil control on the scalp, face and body. 


Both can help in reducing the density of Demodex hair and face mites and used nightly can aid in prevention. Everyone’s body is different, and different skin types have different needs. 


A general guideline for how often you use shampoos at night is dependent on your skin type: Dry Skin: Use at least once a week Normal Skin: 3-4 times a week Oily Skin: Maybe every night, it is okay to use more PS than IS. 


IMPORTANT NOTE: You do not need to wash every night with the shampoos if you do not have oily skin. However, it is very important that you use the HFI, Treatment Hair Tonic (THT) and the Pro D’modex Treatment (PDT) every night. 


How To Use: 

1. Only wash with shampoos at night. This optimises the elimination of mites. 

2. The two shampoos can be used on alternating nights. 

3. Shampoos can also be used on the face and body, especially PS for oily skin. 

4. Wash with warm water when using shampoos, then rinse head and body with cool water

How to Use: 

1. Clean and sterilise the HFI before use. (Sterilise with PDT). 


2. Switch on and apply the small ball tipped attachment (comb attachment can be used for those with extreme hair loss). 


3. Brush HFI in a massaging motion over a clean dry scalp, concentrating on areas with hair loss or thinning. 


4. Adjust the intensity of the frequency to your personal preferences (low, medium or high, depending on your tolerance for the HFI). 


5. Do NOT use a stabbing motion to begin massage and do NOT leave HFI in one specific area of the scalp for more than 10 seconds. 


6. Adjust the intensity to 0 before you turn off the HFI and remove attachment. 


7. Sterilise with PDT after use 


Note: We recommend that no other products should be used on the scalp or hair for the duration of your care plan with UNGEX. However, if this is unavoidable we strongly suggest that other products be used in the morning and avoid contact with the actual scalp (as this will provide sustenance for mites) as much as possible. 


If skin becomes dry, try using organic coconut oil to introduce some moisture without feeding your mites!
